Blue Bird Debuts Redesigned 2014 All Americans

Blue Bird recently unveiled its highly-anticipated 2014 All American forward engine and rear engine school buses at the National Association of Pupil Transportation (NAPT) Trade Show.

Redesigned with students, drivers, service technicians and transportation directors in mind, the new buses include a significant number of new features requested by customers. The new 2014 All American forward engine and rear engine buses are equipped with the most fuel efficient engines in the industry. They also feature best-in-class turning radius, best-in-class driver visibility, the industry’s best paint warranty, a new passenger window design with ultra-smooth operation as well as enhanced serviceability. The All Americans meet the Colorado Racking roll-over specification in their standard configuration, not as an option like the competition. This highlights the strength of the core All American bus design. Additionally, the cockpit has been redesigned to comfortably fit virtually any body size, and with ergonomics similar to the Blue Bird Vision, drivers will enjoy the ability to effortlessly transfer between the Vision and All American product lines without having to learn a new cockpit layout. The new All Americans also share many body parts with the Blue Bird Vision, resulting in a reduction in parts and service complexity. These enhancements will continue to set the industry standard for the Type D product line.

“Blue Bird’s All American line has been an industry staple since its introduction in 1948, and to this day it holds the number one sales position in the Type D segment,” said Phil Horlock, president and CEO of Blue Bird Corporation. “While developing the All Americans, we spent significant time focusing on customer-led product improvements to ensure these buses would strengthen our leadership position in the Type D segment. We look forward to introducing these redesigned buses at the upcoming NAPT trade show.”

The All American forward and rear engine buses will be on display in the Blue Bird booth at NAPT. Also on display will be the Blue Bird Micro Bird and the Blue Bird Propane-Powered Vision, accompanied by a propane savings calculator kiosk, allowing show attendees to input their fleet usage information to calculate how much money they could save by converting to Blue Bird’s propane-powered buses.
